On Wednesday, the Chinese government fined a comedy troupe and issued warnings of potential additional legal consequences. The penalty came in response to a member of the troupe who joked about the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) while performing a stand-up comedy.
Amid increasing tensions between China and self-ruled Taiwan, the latter proposes to reunify Taiwan peacefully. China, for years, has been threatening to take the island by force if necessary, which has also forced the US to back Taiwan recently. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that China wants a peaceful reunification without military aggression.
A senior US general has hinted that the US is going to engage in a war as early as 2025. The four-star US Air Force General Mike Minihan said that it is highly likely that the US will engage in a fierce battle with China in the coming few years.
Chinese Naval ships were seen sailing close to the United States’ territory of Guam. The People’s Liberation Army naval aircraft carrier sailed close to the United States’ Island. Guam has strategic U.S. naval and air force bases in the Pacific Ocean.
