Misinformation reporter for The Guardian, Rachel Leingang, in a detailed report revealed that X’s AI chatbot deliberately spread misinformation in the US elections.
Twitter’s Grok chatbot was behind the wrong information about whether another candidate could replace Joe Biden on the ballot paper.
Soon the wrong answer along with screenshots was circulating on the platform and even forced the Minnesota secretary of state to ask for a fact-check. ,
X Corrected Misinformation
The report says how state officials contacted the X and ask for flagging the information as incorrect.
The initial response was ”a shoulder shrug” but the platform eventually corrected the error, directing users to a reliable voting information site, vote.gov.
Steve Simon, the Minnesota secretary of state said the shocking thing about the misinformation was the fact that the platform was directly involved in spreading it.
Simon did praise X for taking swift action later on for doing “the right and responsible thing”.
