Regional War Fears Escalate As US Hits Targets in Syria & Iraq

Fears of a broader war in the region have escalated further after the US conducted fresh airstrikes against Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Syria.

The strikes that killed 23 people targeted 85 locations near the Iraqi-Syrian border region.

The Human Rights groups couldn’t verify the death toll, which other media organizations contradicted.

US Said It Targeted IRGC

The US Central Command said it targeted militant hideouts that were affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

CENTCOM statement said the military hit targets “command and control operations, centers, intelligence centers, rockets, and missiles, and unmanned aired vehicle storages, and logistics and munition supply chain facilities’.

The attacks were conducted to avenge the tragic death of three US soldiers when a drone struck a military base in Jordan.

Committed to cease a wider escalation, the Biden administration carried out strikes against Iranian-backed militias responsible for the attack on the base.
