An investigative report has revealed that Twitter has become increasingly dangerous for various reasons. Since Elon Musk took over the microblogging platform, child sexual exploitation and trolling have skyrocketed. The investigative report titled ‘Twitter can’t protect you from trolls any more’ was published by BBC.
Hate & Misogyny Is Thriving
The insiders told BBC that Twitter has become full of hate and cyberbullying. Since Elon Musk’s takeover, there has been a 69% increase in abusive and misogynistic hate on Twitter. Measures to curb targeted online abuse is not a top priority for Musk as it’s impossible he doesn’t know these things happening. The report revealed that Twitter seems to have lost its ability to protect against disinformation and child sexual exploitation.
Nothing Is Working
The insiders told the BBC that the company looks fine from the outside, “but I can see that nothing is working”. Elon Musk fired more than half of Twitter’s workforce and now few people have to look over a large range of activities.
