A roadside bomb hit a bus in Afghanistan’s southern Zabul province, killing at least 11 people and injuring dozens more, according to the interior ministry.
According to Gul Islam Sial, the provincial governor’s spokesman in Zabul, the blast happened late Sunday night.
He went on to say that 25 people were wounded, including women and children in critical condition.
Following the announcement by the US that it will withdraw its troops from the country by September 11, violence in the country has risen sharply in recent weeks.
The Taliban declared late Sunday that a three-day truce will be declared for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which falls later this week.
