Hundreds of bodies believed to Covid-19 victims wash up on the banks of the Ganges river in India

Officials claim at least 40 people’s bodies have washed up on the Ganges River’s banks in northern India.

After questioning residents, a local official, Ashok Kumar, told the Media that “there is a chance that these bodies have come out of from Province Uttar Pradesh.” The remains will be buried or cremated, he said.

According to India’s NDTV news channel, officials said the bodies were “bloated” and “partially burned,” and that they may have ended up in the river as part of a tradition of cremating coronavirus victims along the Ganges in Uttar Pradesh.
