There has been much talk about how the two stranded astronauts have been surviving on the ISS, stuck in space till 2025.

But the stranded astronauts, Butch Wilmore & Sunita Williams are US citizens, right?

So, they will be voting in the upcoming US elections!

In its latest short video report, Jamie Moreland, a BBC News journalist explains how the astronauts are still able to vote.

Astronauts Voting Process

The voting process begins when astronauts receive a password-protected PDF ballot with clickable boxes to make their selections.

The completed ballots are sent back securely to election officials for processing.

The process includes sending a test ballot first with a unique password to ensure everything works correctly.

Astronauts have been voting from space since 1997, after Texas passed a law allowing NASA employees to do so.

David Wolf was the first astronaut to cast a vote from space, while Kate Rubins voted from the ISS in the 2020 election
