Meta is shaking up its leadership by adding three new board members—including UFC boss and Trump ally Dana White.
The move comes as Mark Zuckerberg appears to be rebuilding ties with the president-elect ahead of his inauguration.
Alongside White, Meta has appointed John Elkann, head of European investment firm Exor, and ex-Microsoft executive Charlie Songhurst.
Zuckerberg praised their expertise in AI, wearables, and social media’s evolving role.
Why is it Controversial?
White, who transformed UFC into a global powerhouse, expressed his excitement about shaping the future of tech.
However, his stance on free speech has been controversial, especially after a viral exchange last year where he defended fighters’ rights to make anti-LGBT remarks.
The move signals a possible thaw between Meta and Trump.
Once banned from Facebook and Instagram, Trump had threatened that Zuckerberg would “spend the rest of his life in prison” if he meddled in the 2024 election.
However, things have changed as Mark gets closer and closer to Trump.
