The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that it destroyed 80% of Syrian military capabilities after rebels took control of Damascus.
The shocking campaign, named Operation Bashan Arrow, was completed in just two days, the Times of Israel noted.
The Israeli army targeted more than 350 targets including Syrian Air Force and the Naval fleet.
Why Israel Targeted Syrian Military Sites?
The IDF claimed that they targeted a range of military installations as they feared the equipment could fall into rebels’ hands.
It said after publishing video footage that the aim was to “prevent the access (of rebels) to strategic weapons for hostile parties.”
The operation was codenamed “Bashan Arrow” after the biblical name for the Golan Heights and southern Syria region, the Times of Israel wrote.
The IDF also published 2-minute footage of aerial and naval strikes against a range of military sites inside its neighbor that just overthrew a government.
