UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside a New York hotel early Wednesday morning in what authorities suspect was a targeted attack.
The 50-year-old executive was gunned down just before 7 a.m. in Manhattan’s Midtown district, a bustling area typically crowded with commuters.
Footage Captures Suspect
Surveillance footage captured the hooded gunman firing at Thompson before fleeing on a bicycle toward Central Park.
Police have offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, with reports suggesting a silencer may have been used during the attack.
Officers at the scene performed CPR on Thompson before he was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Wife Reveals Brain Received Threats
Adding to the mystery, Thompson’s wife revealed he had been receiving threats in the weeks leading up to the shooting.
“I don’t know details,” Paulette told NBC News.
“But he mentioned some people had been threatening him,” she said as she wiped her tears.
