On Wednesday, the United States wildlife authorities raided the home of Mark Longo and seized Instagram sensation ‘peanut’, a Squirrel.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation said they received complaints from the public that peanut was in unsafe conditions at Longo’s residence.
Longo Pleading DEC
Now Mark Longo, the man behind the internet-famous squirrel Peanut, is appealing to New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to return his beloved pet.
He told his supporters that he has begun raising funds for legal fees in his fight against the DEC’s decision.
In addition to Peanut, the authorities also confiscated a raccoon named Fred, whom Longo had taken in recently.
A Little Background of Peanut
According to the Instagram account, Longo rescued Peanut as a baby seven years ago after finding the injured animal near its dead mother.
Although Longo left Peanut into the wild for release, but peanut returned back to Longo with “a chunk of his tail missing”.
