Australian emergency services were able to save a hiker who was stuck between two boulders while reaching for a phone.
Matilda Campbell, a young woman hiking in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley, spent seven hours after falling into a three-meter crevice while trying to get her mobile phone back.
Rescue Efforts Were Extremely Challenging
According to paramedics, the woman was stuck really bad upside down which made the rescue efforts very challenging.
The fall left her trapped upside down in an “S”-shaped bend but fortunately she was able to survive.
According to her friends, they tried to get her out but they couldn’t after which they had to call emergency services.
Woman Was Stuck For Seven Hours
Rescue teams worked for at least seven hours, including winching a 500kg boulder out of the way, to create enough space to safely pull her out.
Watts, a paramedic, said this was the most rewarding but challenging rescue mission he had ever undertaken.
