US Navy Declares Two Pilots Dead After Tragic Crash in Washington

The United States Navy has declared two of its pilots dead after they went missing in a fighter jet crash on 16 October.

The Navy couldn’t find the two pilots after intense rescue efforts that lasted for five days, reports mention.

The pilots, whose names are not released at the moment, were flying EA-18G Growler jet when it crashed during a routine training flight on Tuesday evening, the US Navy said.

Plane Wreckage Located

The US Navy brought Special Forces trained in mountaineering and high-angle rescue to find the plane wreckage the pilots were flying.

The wreckage was finally located at 1,828 meters in a remote, steep and heavily wooded area east of Mount Rainier.

The names of the two pilots will not be released until the US Navy gets in touch with their families, the US Navy press release said.
