1 Million Floridians Hit Road As Hurricane Milton Arrives on Scene

Hurricane Milton, a dangerous category four storm with winds of up to 155 mph (250 km/h), is racing toward Florida after briefly intensifying to category five.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has warned that “potentially catastrophic” storm surges are possible along the Florida coast as the storm approaches Tampa Bay.

Florida’s emergency chief urged people to evacuate as Milton is “not survivable.”

Time is Running Out

Governor Ron DeSantis told the public that time was running out and they should leave immediately as the hurricane is intensifying rapidly.

DeSantis adds that the government will not be able to bring back people who stay behind as the damage will be “significant”.

Second Wave

According to official briefings, the areas that are now in the path of Milton have already been destroyed by Helene, raising fears of catastrophic damage.

The storm’s approach comes just 10 days after Hurricane Helene devastated the U.S. southeast, killing over 225 people, including 14 in Florida.
