A senior official from the Department of Homeland Security said that China and Iran are stealing technology from the U.S. and using it to their own advantage.
The official said that this is the latest threat in a series of threats posed by foreign powers to U.S. national security and requires our primary focus.
Adversaries Stealing U.S. Technology
Jim Mancuso, the Global Trade Division assistant director at Homeland Security Investigations, told ABC News that they have found U.S. technology in recovered military equipment.
Iran, China, and Russia are all attempting to acquire U.S. technology illegally, Mancuso told the media outlet.
Illegal Export
Mr. Mancuso said the transfer of U.S. technology abroad breaks U.S. export laws.
The technology goes to China, and then from China, it reaches Iran, where it is used in sophisticated drone technologies, he said.
He said U.S. agencies are carefully investigating “trying to stay one step ahead.”
