Tesla has recalled 2 million cars after an autopilot issue was detected.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Tesla’s cars were vulnerable to misuse after years of investigation.
The regulator agency has investigated Tesla’s vehicles using the driver assistance system.
Tesla Can’t Prevent Misuse
NHTSA said the company’s driver assistance system is prone to misuse, which increases the risk of accidents.
The BBC noted Tesla has recalled almost all Tesla vehicles sold in the US since 2015 when the autopilot feature was first launched.
The regulator reviewed 956 crashes where the feature was in use, the report said.
While there are many articles that do not accurately convey the nature of our safety systems, the recent Washington Post article is particularly egregious in its misstatements and lack of relevant context.

Second Recall of 2023
The latest recall became the second of this year for Tesla.
On the other hand, Tesla said it didn’t agree with the assessment made by the traffic safety regulator.
“Safety metrics are emphatically stronger when Autopilot is engaged than when not engaged” Tesla said on X, formerly Twitter.
