After being ousted in a no-confidence motion last year, former Prime Minister Imran khan rallied around Pakistan to expose what he called a ‘US conspiracy’. The center of the entire saga was a classified document which, according to him, was evidence of US hand behind his ouster.
A report from US-based news website ‘The Intercept’ has revealed the content of the secret cable which shows US hand behind Imran Khan’s removal from power.
Cipher Content
The classified cipher content revealed that the Biden administration didn’t want Imran Khan to retain power as prime minister after his visit to Moscow. The cipher exposed a conversation between the then Pakistan’s ambassador to US and Donald Lu, the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, one month before Imran was ousted from power in a no-confidence motion.
Did the US Threaten To Remove Imran Khan?
As per the content of the document shared by ‘the intercept’, the US state department official threatened to remove Imran khan after his visit to the Russian capital, the night Putin invaded Ukraine.
“I think if a no-confidence vote against the prime minister succeeds, all will be forgiven in Washington”, Donald Lu is reported to have said to Pakistan ambassador to the US.
