UN Agency Recommends Putting Venice on Heritage Danger List

UNESCO, the United Nations’ cultural agency, proposed that the historic Venice be added to endangered world heritage sites. According to the agency, the beloved Italian city faces the threat of “irreversible” harm stemming from excessive tourism, excessive urbanization, and the consequences of climate change, including rising sea levels.

NASA Accidentally Cuts Contact With Spacecraft 12B Miles Away

NASA experienced a temporary disruption in communication with Voyager 2, the second-farthest human-made spacecraft dispatched into space. This incident occurred recently when a mistaken command from flight controllers unintentionally caused a two-degree tilt of the spacecraft’s antenna away from Earth, leading to the loss of contact.

Wildfires Burn 77,000 Acres in California, Spreading To Nevada

Huge wildfires have burned down 77,000 acres of land and have already spread into Nevada. The fires considered California’s largest fire in 2023 have gone completely out of control. The fire started on Friday in California’s Mojave national preserve due to extreme temperatures coupled with rapid growth of underbrush due to heavy rains this year, authorities said.
