The Villa Rica police department received severe backlash from the public after it posted photos of shooting sessions with an image of black man as the target. The police department apologized to the public for using the image and removed the images of the targets that had the images of black man.
No Human Images For Public Anymore
An official from the police department told the media that human images will not be used as targets anymore, but the law enforcement officers will use them. People on social media severely criticized the images of the black man and condemned it as “racist” and “discriminatory”. “Hating and being afraid of [Black] people is taught at home, at police training and apparently random handgun classes,” wrote one user.
No Human Images Necessary
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a civil right organization condemned the act calling it racially “inappropriate and unacceptable”. Shooting targets should have no images of human beings, no matter black or white, the statement said.
