Titanic Tourist Submarine Feared To Have Run Out Of Oxygen

While the search for the missing tourist submarine continues, officials are worried that the submarine may not have enough oxygen by now. The OceanGate Expeditions exploratory submarine called Titan went missing on June 18 and the rescue teams have not been able to locate its whereabouts after days of search.

96 Hours of Oxygen

According to the company estimates, the submarine had 96 hours of oxygen when it went down but they were skeptical whether or not the passengers would be alive now. Mike Tipton, head of the extreme environments laboratory at the UK, said even if oxygen was there, those on board would have faced carbon dioxide poisoning which is lethal and can kill instantly.

Debris Found

The US Coast Guard officials said that they have discovered the debris of an unknown object near the Titanic wreckage and they are evaluating it. French researchers have deployed a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) which can reach the sea bed and send visuals to the surface. Experts have said that further investigation via machines will take more time which means those inside the submarine are nearing death.
