New Zealand’s cabinet has become the most diverse one for the very first time. The country elected one of the most diverse parliaments in 2020, when then Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern increased the numbers of females and LGBT numbers.
10 Women & 10 Men
From Wednesday, The cabinet will have an equal gender representation, of 10 female and 10 male members. The announcement was made following the appointment of MP Willow-Jean Prime as a cabinet minister by Prime Minister Chris Hipkins. According to Hipkins, the decision to appoint Prime was based on her expertise and experience in her current roles as a conservation and youth minister.
New Zealand, A Social Laboratory
