Pirates Abandoned Danish Ship, Kidnapped Crew Members

A week ago, Pirates kidnapped a Danish-owned oil tanker and abandoned it after kidnapping some of its crew members. The oil tanker Monjasa Reformer was found abandoned in the Sao Tome and Principe but some of the crew members were missing, Monjasa said.

Crew & Ship Was Safe

Apart from the missing crew members, all rescued members were in good health without showing signs of harm. The ship was located by the French navy off Sao Tome and Principe, a small island nation in Central Africa. All the crew members took shelter in a safe room, but the pirates were somehow able to take some hostages with them.

World’s Most Dangerous Route

The Monjasa Reformer oil tanker was boarded by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea, which is described as the World’s Most Dangerous Sea Route by the International Maritime Bureau. The area roughly around 11,000 square kilometers has been a hotspot for kidnappings and armed attacks by pirates for decades.
