Jermaine Petit, a Black man, was shot three times in the back by Los Angeles police officers just seconds after they claimed he was unarmed.
According to the Independent, body cam video from last week shows LAPD officers approaching Petit on July 18 after reacting to a 911 call about a man holding a “semi-automatic weapon” in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Leimert Park.
“It’s not a gun bro,” one of the officers can be heard saying as they pursue Petit down the street.
Officers nevertheless pursue Petit and demand that he remove his hands from his pockets. Petit began to flee when the cops began to fire and was hit three times in the back.
