A family day out at a zoo turned into a nightmare.
When a three-year-old boy was left fighting for his life after ending up inside a crocodile enclosure in eastern England.
How such a horrifying incident unfolded is now at the centre of a major police investigation.
Emergency services rushed to Johnson’s of Old Hurst, near Huntingdon, on Tuesday afternoon.
After reports that a child had suffered serious injuries.
The boy was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Police launched an urgent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a dramatic development, officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Norfolk on suspicion of attempted murder.
Tragedy Sparks Safety Investigation
Investigators say they do not believe the man and the child knew each other.
Detectives are also examining whether the youngster was attacked by crocodiles inside the enclosure.
“At this stage, we are speaking to people who were at the zoo to understand exactly what happened,” Detective Inspector Verity McCann said. She described it as a “distressing incident.”

The zoo, home to more than 100 animals including crocodiles, lions and a Bengal tiger, closed its Tropical House following the event.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the boy and his family,” a spokesperson said.
As police piece together the timeline, one question remains unanswered.
How did a routine visit to the zoo end in such a devastating and deeply troubling tragedy?
