‘Maze-Like’ Drug Tunnel From Morocco To Spain Busted By Police

‘Maze-like’ tunnel from Morocco to Spain busted.

What if smuggling didn’t happen over the sea—but right beneath your feet?

That’s exactly what police uncovered in Ceuta, where a hidden tunnel ran from Morocco into Spain.

But this wasn’t some crude passage—it was a high-tech, underground operation.

Think three levels deep. The bottom? A maze-like network, “similar to a mine,” complete with rail systems and trolleys.

The middle? Storage for tonnes of hashish. And above? Cranes and pulleys lifting heavy loads like clockwork.

“This is engineering on another level,” investigators suggested—designed to stay invisible.

Sophisticated Smuggling Tunnel

The tunnel, buried 19 metres underground, even had soundproofing and pumping systems to avoid detection.

And here’s the twist: authorities still don’t know its full length—it’s flooded.

A police officer watches a video as officers make their way through the tunnel found in Ceuta.

Police say this wasn’t a small-time operation. “An extremely powerful organisation” was behind it, coordinating transport via speedboats and fishing vessels across Europe.

The investigation has already led to seizures of over 17 tonnes of hashish and €1.4 million in cash.

So here’s the real question: when criminal networks can build tunnels this sophisticated, are borders still as secure as we think?
