Greenland Picks Denmark Instead Of US, Prime Minister Confirms

We choose Denmark over US, Greenland's PM says.

So, would Greenland pick the US or Denmark if it had to choose?

The answer, according to Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, is crystal clear: Denmark, hands down.

Nielsen’s blunt remarks came at a joint news conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

This was amid renewed headlines after Donald Trump floated the idea of “buying” Greenland — or even using force to annex it.

Trump argues the island is vital for US national security, citing its location between North America and the Arctic.

“It’s covered with Russian and Chinese ships all over the place,” he claimed — though offered no evidence.

Denmark, a fellow NATO member, fired back.

Frederiksen called the US pressure “completely unacceptable” and warned that military action would spell the end of the trans-Atlantic alliance.

Sovereignty Over Strategy

Greenland itself has been emphatic: “One thing must be clear… Greenland does not want to be owned by the United States.

Greenland does not want to be governed by the United States,” Nielsen said.

Even with 100 US military personnel already stationed at Pituffik base, the island’s leaders made it clear.

Sovereignty matters more than strategic value.

Trump shrugged at Nielsen’s statement, saying: “That’s their problem… That’s going to be a big problem for him.”

But for Greenland, the choice is simple. As Nielsen put it, facing a geopolitical crisis, there’s no question: Denmark comes first.

So, will the US try to push back? Perhaps. But one thing’s for sure — Greenland isn’t for sale.
