Europe Stands With Denmark Over Trump Threat To Annex Greenland

European allies back Denmark over Trump's threat to annex Greenland.

Who really “owns” Greenland? According to the US, apparently, it might be them.

After Donald Trump insisted the US needed Greenland for security reasons — even refusing to rule out force.

Six European allies have jumped to Denmark’s defense.

The leaders of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Denmark said in a joint statement: “Greenland belongs to its people.

Only Denmark and Greenland can decide on matters concerning their relations.” Strong words.

The timing isn’t a coincidence. Trump’s recent military raid in Venezuela, where elite forces captured President Nicolás Maduro, has stoked fears.

People fear that the US could try something similar in the Arctic.

His senior aide Stephen Miller doubled down on CNN, claiming the US “is the power of NATO” and suggesting Greenland should be part of America.

He added, “Nobody’s going to fight the US over the future of Greenland.”

Greenland’s Sovereignty Debate

Greenland, with its 57,000 residents, has had self-government since 1979, though Denmark still handles defense and foreign affairs.

Most Greenlanders want independence — not annexation.

As Inuit resident Morgan Angaju put it: “It’s terrifying… we are already claimed by the Greenlandic people.

Kalaallit Nunaat means the land of the Greenlandic people.”

Denmark and Greenland are calling for dialogue, stressing sovereignty and international law.

But with Trump openly eyeing minerals, strategic bases, and Arctic power, one has to ask.

Will this be a diplomatic chess game, or something far more audacious?

Greenland might be small, but suddenly, it’s the world’s newest spotlight.
