On Thursday, the world’s first AI government minister — a digital entity named Diella — addressed parliament for the very first time.
Appearing on screen in a traditional Albanian outfit, Diella calmly reassured lawmakers: “I’m not here to replace people, but to help them.”
Prime Minister Edi Rama, who appointed Diella last week, says the AI will take charge of public tenders.
It promises a system “100 per cent corruption-free” and fully transparent.
It’s a bold move in a country that ranks 80th on Transparency International’s corruption index.
It has seen its own Tirana mayor detained over graft allegations.

Some critics have branded Diella “unconstitutional” because it isn’t human.
But the bot fired back with a pointed reminder.
“The real danger to constitutions has never been the machines but the inhumane decisions of those in power.”
