Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are about to share a table in one of the most unexpected places—Alaska.
The meeting, set for 15 August, will focus on the war in Ukraine.
According to the Kremlin, the location makes sense given it’s just a hop across the Bering Strait from Russia.
What’s The Twist?
But here’s the twist—just hours before the announcement, Trump hinted Ukraine might have to give up some land to secure peace.
“We’re going to get some back, we’re going to get some switched,” he told reporters, suggesting a territory swap “to the betterment of both.”
CBS News reports the idea on the table could see Russia keep Crimea and all of Donbas, while giving up Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
Unsurprisingly, President Volodymyr Zelensky isn’t exactly sold.
“Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier,” he declared, warning that any deal without Ukraine’s consent is “against peace.”
The war has dragged on for over three years, with Russia holding about 20% of Ukraine’s territory.

Past peace talks have failed, and Moscow’s demands—neutral Ukraine, no NATO, lifted sanctions—remain nonstarters for Kyiv.
Still, Trump insists there’s “a shot” at a deal. Whether that shot hits the target or backfires spectacularly? We’ll find out in Alaska.
