What kind of thief flaunts the loot in selfies? Apparently, one who thinks she’s untouchable.
Lucy Roberts, a 39-year-old former jewelry store manager in the UK, just learned that sparkling arrogance comes with a price.28 months behind bars.
Roberts spent a year helping herself to a treasure trove of diamonds, gold, and bespoke jewelry—more than $170,000 worth.
She did it under the guise of “working from home,” according to Humberside Police.
Her excuse? She was sorting stock for the workshop.
In reality, she was building a personal collection fit for royalty.
What Was Her Downfall?
A vacation cruise. After quitting her job, Roberts sent coworkers selfies—decked out in stolen jewels.
“Without a care in the world, dripping in diamonds,” said Detective Sgt. Krista Wilkinson, describing the brazen display.

When police searched her home, they found jewelry stashed under beds and in cupboards.
But the real twist? She was arrested at Heathrow Airport wearing stolen pieces, even trying to ditch more as officers escorted her out.
Initially, Roberts claimed the jewelry was borrowed or planted—but later confessed to theft.
The store, unnamed in reports, says it’s relieved to finally close this glittering chapter.
