Nike Set To Raise Prices Over Tariff Concerns

Nike to raise prices as firms face tariffs uncertainty.

Starting the 1st, many Nike sneakers and sportswear items in the U.S. will see a price bump—some by as much as $10.

Is it because of tariffs? Nike won’t say that outright. Instead, the company chalks it up to routine “seasonal planning.”

But let’s be real—most Nike products are made in Asia, and that region is squarely in the crosshairs of President Trump’s import tariffs.

While a 10% base levy is already in place, even steeper “reciprocal” tariffs are looming in July.

Who Really Pays For These Taxes?

Technically, importers. But more often than not, it’s you, the customer, who foots the bill.

Trump, for his part, isn’t buying the blame game.

He recently bashed Walmart and Mattel for passing costs onto consumers, saying big companies should “eat the tariffs.”

Still, Nike CFO Matt Friend admitted back in March that tariffs and “macro factors” are creating a rocky retail climate.

And they’re watching how it affects your wallet.

On the bright side? Classic kicks like the Air Force 1s, children’s shoes, and Jordan gear are spared—for now.

So, if your next pair feels pricier, just remember: you’re not just paying for style—you’re paying for policy.
