Maldives President Sets Record With Marathon 15-Hour Press Conference

Maldives President Sets Record with Marathon 15-Hour Press Conference.

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu just pulled off the world’s longest presidential Q&A.

It clocked in at a jaw-dropping 14 hours and 54 minutes on Saturday.

Yes, you read that right. Fourteen. Nearly fifteen.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., Muizzu barely stopped except for prayer breaks.

He tackled questions from reporters and the public well past midnight.

Why The Epic Session?

It was a mic-drop move timed to World Press Freedom Day, and a bold nod to transparency.

“The press plays a crucial role in society,” Muizzu said, emphasizing the need for “factual, balanced, and impartial reporting.”

Around two dozen journalists hung in for the marathon, fed and fueled.

They fired questions on everything from policy to public concerns.

Oh, and he didn’t just talk the talk — he’s walking up the rankings too.

Under his leadership, the Maldives jumped two spots to 104th in the global press freedom index by Reporters Without Borders.

Funny enough, a former Maldivian president set a very different record — an underwater cabinet meeting in 2009.
