What would you do if a criminal defendant walked right past you and out the door, escaping justice?
Well, that’s exactly what happened in a Wisconsin courtroom—and it led to a judge’s arrest.
Hannah Dugan, a Milwaukee County Circuit judge, is facing serious charges.
She allegedly helped a Mexican man, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, evade arrest by ICE agents.
The incident unfolded last week after a warrant was issued for his arrest on misdemeanor charges.
Dugan reportedly grew angry when she found out ICE was there to arrest him, even leaving the bench and arguing with agents.
But it didn’t stop there.
Dugan allegedly guided Flores-Ruiz and his lawyer out a back door, all while federal agents were left waiting.
The Arrest Is Causing A Stir
Flores-Ruiz, who had been deported before, tried to flee but was caught after a brief chase.
Some see it as a bold move to enforce the law; others, like Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin, say it’s a dangerous attack on the judicial system.
Either way, the message is clear: no one is above the law, not even a judge.
Will this case shake up the balance between law enforcement and the judiciary? Stay tuned.
