But OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman isn’t interested— and he’s got jokes.

Altman Fires Back
Altman fired back with a funny proposal, saying he wanted to buy Twitter instead.
“No thank you but we will buy Twitter for $9.74 billion if you want,” Altman quipped on X.

Musk’s latest attempt to reclaim control of the AI giant comes after years of feuding with Altman over the company’s shift to for-profit operations.
He’s also tangled with OpenAI in court, accusing the company of abandoning its original open-source, safety-first AI mission in favor of big-money deals with investors like Microsoft.
The takeover attempt could put Musk in charge of a company that directly competes with his own AI venture, X.AI. Musk originally co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but walked away in 2018 after a failed attempt to buy it.
