Instagram users are fuming as searches for “Democrat” mysteriously show a “results hidden” message.
Meta says the glitch is a technical error, which has left many skeptical—especially since the hashtag “Republican” still pulls in over 3.3 million posts.
Meta spokesperson assured users, “We’re aware of an error affecting hashtags across the political spectrum and are working quickly to resolve it.”
Why is This Important Now?
“In a hyper-partisan environment, even unintentional errors like this can escalate into accusations of partisanship,” warned social media expert Matt Navarra.
The embarrassed moment comes just a day after the inauguration of Donald Trump who rubbed shoulders with Mark Zuckerberg and tech giants.
Mark however said the issue is not restricted to the search “democrat” and has no political bias.
What is The Glitch?
Here is the issue.
Typing in “Democrats” brings up a message saying, “Results for the term you searched for may contain sensitive content,” while searching “Republicans” produces limited but visible results.
