TikTok is strongly resisting claims that its parent company, ByteDance, is considering selling the platform to Elon Musk.
Recent reports suggested that Chinese officials were exploring a potential deal to offload TikTok’s U.S. operations to Musk if a looming ban forces ByteDance’s hand.
Company Calls News Pure Fiction
But TikTok isn’t having it.
When asked for comment, a company representative dismissed the speculation outright: “We can’t be expected to comment on pure fiction.”
The rumors come at a critical time for the app, which could be banned in the U.S. under a law that takes effect on January 19 unless the Supreme Court intervenes.

Lawmakers remain concerned about TikTok’s alleged ties to the Chinese government, accusations ByteDance has repeatedly denied.
Meanwhile, Musk has remained silent on the claims.
Given his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter (now X), some believe he could be eyeing TikTok as his next big move.
