The U.S. is bracing for its most intense winter storm in over a decade, bringing severe thunderstorms and dangerous ice conditions.
According to the BBC, an estimated 62 million people will be impacted by the extreme weather, with some areas experiencing their coldest temperatures since 2011.
4 Million Under Warning
Blizzard warnings are in effect for nearly 4 million people, with winds up to 50 mph creating whiteout conditions and making travel nearly impossible.
The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that the storm, which began in the Central U.S. on Saturday, will move eastward and persist through Monday.
Meteorologist Dan DePodwin cautioned, “Temperatures well below historical averages could linger for a week.”
Heaviest Snowfall in A Decade
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) stated that “for some, this could be the heaviest snowfall in over a decade”
Authorities are urging residents to stay informed, take precautions, and brace for significant disruptions as the storm continues eastward.
