The US has hinted at possible Russian involvement in the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash on December 25 that claimed 38 lives.
White House spokesman John Kirby revealed “early indications” pointing to Russia, though he offered no further details.
He confirmed that US assistance had been offered for the investigation.
Passengers Heard Three Explosions
The Embraer 190 aircraft reportedly faced Russian air defense fire while attempting to land in Chechnya.
Forced to divert across the Caspian Sea, it ultimately crashed in Kazakhstan.
Survivors recalled hearing three blasts near Grozny, with aviation experts suggesting GPS interference and shrapnel damage from missile strikes.
Kremlin Remains Silent So Far
Azerbaijan’s transport minister, Rashad Nabiyev, stated the plane encountered “external interference”
An MP Rasim Musabekov was even more direct, claiming, “The plane was shot down over Russian territory.”
Despite the accusations, the Kremlin has remained silent, with a spokesman asserting it’s “too early for conclusions.”
