Toyota is reportedly jumping on the bandwagon with a $1 million donation to Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The announcement comes following similar contributions from Ford, General Motors, Meta, and Amazon.
According to Reuters, the two US automakers are also providing vehicles for the January 20 event.
But Why?
Tech giants Amazon and Meta have also pledged $1 million each, while OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is said to be making a personal contribution of the same amount.
These moves suggest major companies are eager to stay in Trump’s good graces, likely in hopes of favorable policies.
Donors contributing $1 million or more are also set to receive VIP perks, including exclusive dinners with Trump, his cabinet, and vice-president JD Vance.
The President-elect has engaged with some of the richest men in the world in recent weeks including Jef Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg.
The motive remains clear, everyone wants to be seen as a “friend” despite past disagreements.
