President-elect Donald Trump stirred the pot on Tuesday with a cheeky jab at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The President-elect referred to Trudeau as the “governor” of the “Great State of Canada” in a social media post.
The comment came after the pair dined together in late November at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, where they discussed trade and tariffs.
Why It Matters?
Donald Trump had remained consistently critical of the Canadian leader for being a liability to the US.
Trump’s latest playful quip follows his earlier tongue-in-cheek suggestion that Canada should become the 51st US state—a joke, according to Public Safety Minister Dominic Leblanc.

The dinner was important as Trudeau’s Canada is very afraid of the sweeping tariffs the new Trump-led administration is going to impose on its exports.
Canada’s 75% of exports go to the United States and smelling tariffs doesn’t do any good to Mr. Trudeau, political experts say.
