Biden Assures To Bring Longest-Held American Hostage Back Home

President Joe Biden has vowed to bring home Austin Tice, one of America’s longest-held hostages, back home.

Mr. Biden said the collapse of the Syrian government now allows the US to locate Tice’s whereabouts.

Tice was a freelance journalist and former US Marine who disappeared near Damascus in August 2012 while covering the Syrian civil war.

US Blamed Syrian Government

At the time of Tice’s disappearance, the Obama administration blamed the Syrian government for kidnapping the freelance journalist.

Although the Middle Eastern country refused to know the details of Tice’s disappearance, the American intelligence community believed pro-government forces indeed kidnapped the journalist.

Biden To Bring Tice Home

Speaking at the White House, Biden said the US believes Tice is alive but admitted, “We have to identify where he is.”

The President said the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was “an act of justice” but now is the time to bring Tice home after years of imprisonment.
