Experts Fear China’s Invasion As Taiwan President Visits US

Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te has touched down in Hawaii for a two-day visit, sparking outrage from China.

Political experts believe that the visit will make the Chinese President angry and could unleash China’s military might.

Upon his arrival, Lai delivered a strong message to China that his country doesn’t seek war and would cooperate if the other party, meaning China, is willing to do so.

The Visit Angers China

His comments struck a nerve in Beijing, with China’s foreign ministry condemning the visit and lodging formal protests with the US.

The Taiwanese President angered China by saying that “we have to fight together to prevent war”, in public reference to the United States.

Lai Ching-te is on a three-day visit to the US.

Why China is Angry?

China views Taiwan as its territory and considers any sort of external engagement as a threat, specifically with the US.

On the other hand, the US maintains an ambiguous policy of not recognizing Taiwan and still engaging with it.
