Outgoing US President Joe Biden pardoned two Thanksgiving turkeys at the White House.
He kicked off his final holiday season at the White House with the tradition of pardoning Peach and Blossom.
The ceremony, held on the South Lawn before 2,500 guests, marks an annual event dating back to Harry Truman’s presidency, with an official tradition starting in 1989 under George H.W. Bush.
Turkey’s Have Two Distinct Personalities
Joe Biden joked about the turkeys’ personalities, revealing that Peach dreams of seeing the Northern Lights, while Blossom prefers cheese curds and boxing.
The Associated Press noted that both turkeys weigh around 40 pounds.
Biden’s Last Time To Speak At Dinner
Speaking to around 2,500 people on the White House South Lawn, Biden said it was an honor to serve as US President.
“This event marks the official start of the holiday season here in Washington. It’s also my last time to speak here as your president during this season and give thanks and gratitude,” he said.
