Black Liquid Splashed On Election Chief in Georgia Parliament

Georgian parliament saw panic and chaos when a member of the opposition party threw black paint at the head of the election commission.

Member of the opposition United National Movement Davit Kirtadze interrupted proceedings by throwing black liquid on Giorgi Kalandarishvili for rigging the election.

What Happened?

The problems erupted after the CEC announced the results of the recent election in Georgia in favor of pro-Russia candidates.

The ruling Georgian Dream party, aligned with Moscow, claimed victory with 53.93% of the vote, while the opposition bloc secured 37.79%.

Kirtadze said his aim of throwing the black paint at the CEC chief’s face was to expose him for being a “dark spot on democracy”.

Parliament Boycotted

The opposition members have boycotted the parliament and protests have erupted in the country after election results were announced.

Pro-European President Salome Zurabishvili has also refused to recognize the results as being influenced by Russian interference.
