Remains of Mountain Everest Climber Discovered After 100 Years

A National Geographic documentary team has discovered partial 100-year-old remains of British climber Andrew “Sandy” Irvine.

The groundbreaking discovery could answer critical questions about the first climber of the world’s highest peak.

The team found a foot encased in a sock with clear “AC Irvine” stitched on it and a boot, believed to belong to Irvine.

Irvine disappeared alongside his legendary climbing partner George Mallory on June 8, 1924, according to official records.

Discovery Will Answer Questions

This discovery marks the first real and authentic evidence of Irvine’s fate and will reveal more details into a century-old mystery.

Jimmy Chin, the photographer and director involved in the expedition, said that the find will answer the question of whether or not Irvine was the first person to climb the highest peak in the world.

A Kodak Vest Pocket camera that the climbers reportedly carried with them could hold photographic proof of whether the couple reached Everest’s summit.
