A special US Navy investigation into the deaths of two Navy seals while boarding a vessel smuggling weapons to Houthis revealed shocking details.
The investigation revealed that the death of Chief Special Warfare Operator Christopher Chambers and Navy Special Warfare Operator First Class Nathan Gage Ingram could have been prevented.
The assessment highlighted significant training deficiencies and equipment issues that contributed to their drowning during a nighttime mission in January.
SEALS Lacked Proper Training
The mission, which aimed to intercept illicit Iranian-made weapons headed to Yemen, took place in rough seas off the coast of Somalia on 22 January.
Both SEALs were weighed down by their gear, and their flotation devices, while they were trying to board the vessel, the investigation revealed.
The investigation revealed that many of the team members lacked sufficient training on how to properly operate their flotation devices, which could have saved their lives.
