A recent report from Owl Labs found that nearly half of Gen Z employees in the US have posted negative comments about their jobs or employers online.
According to the report, 48% of Gen Z employees admitted to sharing criticisms about their workplaces on platforms like Instagram, X, and TikTok, or anonymously on sites like Glassdoor.
Is This A Generational Shift?
For Bryan Driscoll, an HR consultant, the trend seems to reflect a generational shift in attitudes toward workplace issues.
He suggested that Gen Z is more likely to speak out online as they refuse to tolerate workplace injustices that previous generations might have accepted.
Driscoll pointed out that this shift will make our workplace more equitable and even increase productivity for companies.
Why is Gen Z Trashing Employers?
One contributing factor to this discontent could be the changing work environment.
The report found that 62% of employees were working in offices full-time in 2024, with only 27% having hybrid schedules and 11% working fully remotely.
