Jimmy Carter has become the first even former US President to turn 100 years old.

The former Democratic leader, who served from 1977 to 1981, has been in hospice care for 19 months but still manages to play with his grand-sons and spend quality time with family.

The White House paid tribute with a display of big lettering just outside the main office, the Guardian mentioned.

Democrat, Humanist & Nobel Prize Winner

Despite his health challenges, Carter has expressed a wish to vote in the upcoming election for Kamala Harris, a democratic presidential nominee.

His grandson said, according to the BBC, that Mr. Carter had told him he was “only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris.”

Sitting and former Presidents, authors and journalists, all congratulated the former President for leaving a legacy of peace and progress for the United States.

Mr. Carter became the third US President to have received the Nobel prize for his outstanding four decades-long humanitarian work after leaving office in 2002.
