Donald Trump’s campaign has stated that the former president has been briefed by U.S. intelligence on specific threats from Iran to assassinate him.
In a social media post, Trump mentioned “big threats” from Iran and thanked Congress for approving additional funds for his Secret Service protection.
Trump’s campaign’s communications director, Steven Cheung, noted that these threats have intensified in recent months ahead of US election year.
Trump’s Assassination Attempts This Year
These allegations follow a July 13 rally in Pennsylvania where Trump was wounded in a shooting that left another person dead.
Shortly after the incident, U.S. media reported intelligence on a potential Iranian plot against Trump.
In addition, on September 15, a Secret Service agent fired at a man with a rifle near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, while Trump was playing golf.
The US intelligence has not yet found a credible Iranian link to assassination attempts over Trump’s life.
