US Man Sentenced For Making 12,000 Threatening Calls To Lawmakers

A man from New York Ade Salim Lilly has been sentenced to 13 months in prison for making over 12,000 harassing and threatening calls to US lawmakers.

Lilly, 35, pleaded guilty in May 2023 to charges of interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure and making repeated telephone calls. 

Lilly Called 54 Members

He contacted around 54 members of Congress between February 2022 and November 2023, and threatened to kill at least one staff member.

After serving his prison sentence, Lilly will be subject to three years of supervised release.

Lilly admitted to making threatening calls to lawmakers but said he acted in the public’s interest. 

Lilly Called Lawmaker 500 Times

According to court documents, Mr. Lilly called one lawmaker’s staff around 500 times, threatening to kill him. 

The suspect’s objective motives remain unclear as the police continue their investigation in the matter.

It was also not made clear whether Lilly belonged to a particular party.
